i-FIVE - INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL VIDEO ART FESTIVAL

REGULATIONS

GOALS
- Promoting audiovisual practice and culture in a school context;
- Make schools aware of the use of video as a creative tool;
- Disseminate experiences that promote familiarization with the arts of video, animation and video installation;
- To promote the encounter and exchange of experiences and ideas between students, teachers and professionals of the visual arts;
- Disseminate audiovisual works produced in schools.

PARTICIPANTS
Basic (14-15 years) and Secondary (16-17 years) Education Students.

COLABORATIONS
The intention is to carry out the festival involving arts students (especially from the 12th grade Arts Sudents) of the Brotero School in its production, whether in the production of video art works, in the organization and promotion of the festival, in the assembly of the installations, etc.

ORGANIZATION
The direction of the festival will be in charge of Professor José Vieira, professor of Visual Arts at Brotero (promoter of the festival and artistic director of the Fonlad festival organized by the Videolab Association).
The organization will be the responsibility of the Brotero School and the production and technical support will be the responsibility of Videolab Association.

PARTNERSHIPS
The festival will have as partners the Penedo da Saudade Cultural Center, Casa da Esquina and the House of Cinema of Coimbra.
The festival's activities will be integrated into the Brotero School's National Film Plan / National Arts Plan.

REGULATIONS

1. Objectives
- Promoting audiovisual practice and culture in a school context;
- Make schools aware of the use of video as a creative tool;
- Disseminate experiences that promote familiarization with the arts of video, animation and video installation;
- Promote the encounter and exchange of experiences and ideas between students, teachers and professionals of the visual arts;
- Disseminate audiovisual works produced in schools.

2. Participants
i5 is open to all students (14-17), groups of students, or Film Clubs of Basic and Secondary Education nationally and internationally.

3. Films
- All works produced in the academic years 2021/2022 and 2022/2023, carried out in a school context and in which the students have had an active involvement, can compete.
- Fiction films, animation, video art and installation can be submitted.
- There is no limit to the number of works that each school / student can submit.
- All movies must have the following settings: Mov or Mp4, 1920 x 1080.
- Films must have a duration up to 5 minutes.

4. Copyright
- For all legal purposes, each competing school will assume responsibility for the works sent, excluding any and all responsibility of the Organization towards third parties.
- The images and music used must be original or free from copyright.

5. Registration
- Registration is free and must be completed by the School (or responsible teacher) by March 31, 2023.

To submit a video, you must:
- Fill out the registration form online: https://forms.gle/Bek7c8ooWRR72Msn8
- In the form, you must identify: author(s) of the film, school year, name of the school, name of the responsible teacher, title of the film, type / genre of film (animation, short film, video art), duration (in minutes), year of production.
- Make the film available on the Internet (Vimeo, You Tube, etc.). Indicate (on the online form) the link and the password (if you have one).

6. Disclosure
All participating works, whether selected or not, will be part of the Audiovisual Archive of Videolab Association, the Festival's producer. With the aim of making known the audiovisual works produced in schools, the Organization reserves the right to disseminate, through the means it deems fit, excerpts or the totality of the works.

7. Selection
All films received will be selected by a jury according to the following criteria:
- Originality and creativity
- Involvement of students in the film
- Technical quality of work

8. Official Jury
The Official Jury will be made up of the following elements: José Vieira (visual arts teacher at the Avelar Brotero's School), Sérgio Gomes (President of the Videolab Association and video artist) and another member by invitation.

9. Presentation of selected works
The selected works will be presented in the form of an exhibition or installation in the following spaces:
Penedo da Saudade's Cultural Center (video-installations)
Casa da Esquina (shows and installations)
Cinema House (shows)
Avelar Brotero Secondary School (shows and installations)

The shows will take place at the indicated locations at a time to be defined.
The installations will take place from 14:00 to 18:00.
